http://SpikedStudio.com In this product review I look at the Seagate Backup Plus for Mac external hard drive with USB 3.0 technology and some special capabilities built into the Seagate Dashboard. The drive will work with a PC with a downloadable driver and it backwards compatible to USB 2.0 if needed. The included cable was a bit short for my liking. See my entire writtern review on Amazon. http://idonot.es/seagate1tbusb3

  1. I bought the Seagate backup plus to upload photos from my camera and can't figure it out! Can't find a youtube video that tells me. Anyone?
  2. What is the Dashboard? Call me stupid, but my Seagate did not come with Any booklet with the purchase. Eleanor again!
  3. Hello I am having problems with my Seagate 3T and installing. Time Machine does not automatically read it and says incompatible format. Not it can be I need to update software on Mac but wondering if I am doing wrong and also it won't set up when clicking set up...do I need more than 3GB space to run this? Its not that big according to what it says but you never know.
  4. product work only for mac any make computer
  5. i have had a problem with set up out of the box, this review did not cover set up out of the box which is odd for a product review ...
  6. Can someone say where I would find how to actually look at backed up files. And who cares about social sharing?
  7. Que: Is Seagate Backup plus for Mac COMPATIBLE with WINDOWS 7? If YES, how? Please if you just describe below will be appreciated. Thank you very much. :)
  8. Recieved the storage backup system as a gift but it says it's for MAC but yet it's compatible for Windows. I don't want to return it but if I keep it can I formate it for Windows. I know u mentioned it in your review but I just want to be certain
  9. All I waant to do is back up all my files. You did not explain simply how I do it. Also, the directions that come with it stinks. It should just say, "Back Up All My Files" and allow me to click on that. How about sending an email explaining that. Keep it Simple, Stupid.
  10. I DONT CARE ABOUT 1000 FANCY, EXTREMELY UNNECESSARY FEATURES, ALL I WANT TO DO IS DRAG FILES FROM MY MAC TO THE FUCKING HARD-DRIVE, AND IT WONT LET ME DO THAT! WHY????
  11. nice hair style,
    no wonder why its spikedstudio
  12. I need help. I'm using a macbook air. Bought seagate back up slim for mac. But, I cannot get past the download to the home page. It appears to download ending with asking for a restart. The icon is on the desktop, but no home page shows up. I cannot back up anything which is the purpose of the device. I'm two hours into trying to figure this out myself. Close to giving up unless I am given or can find a solution

  13. hope this helps: My backup plus was not working on my second mac. Could read but not write to the drive. I then downloaded the seagate dashboard but that also did not work. I found a link on the seagate support site called PARAGON and this small software patch seemed to enable the mac to write to the drive. Problem solved
the dashboard still will not recognise that it's there but I can drag and drop files now so I'm just ignoring all seagate software and treating the thing like a normal external hard drive (which is why I bought it in the first place) thanks for the good few hours wasted trying to figure that out Seagate.
  14. I really hope someone can help me!  I bought the Backup Plus Slim 1tb drive today.  I have a mac which I want to backup, but I also want to copy/backup some files from a PC onto it too.  So when I install it, I click on formatting for use of both Mac and PC.  I have made sure I have the NFTS drive already on my Mac.  When I load the Seagate Dashboard, only 'Mobile Backup' and 'Social' are the options that are appearing.  No option to backup a computer at all!  I haven't seen this problem anywhere else.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling just for Mac use, to see if I could at least backup my Mac (I do NOT want to have to buy a separate driver for the PC files though, as I bought this especially because it says that it is interchangeable!)  but when I load the Seagate Dashboard when it is for Mac only use, the only backup it shows is a Cloud Backup which isn't what I want - I want the files on the drive!  - all I want to do is copy files from a Mac and a PC onto it and I don't understand why this is so hard?!  I really hope someone can enlighten me...
  15. I purchased seagate backup plus driver 2 tb only for my photos. My question is: Is better to format the drive for use in mac ,but the software included in the drive is eraser , or use the dashboard software for backup. I have time machine and a icloud plan. Really worth keeping the software
  16. Diane much thanks is owed to you for having posted the solution to the Seagate Backup Plus Slim! I was getting so very frustrated and can't thank you enough for sharing your post. I really appreciate your kindness and helpful guidance.
  17. I have Seagate backup  plus slim for mac and PC and it only works on my Mac. I use it as a backup on my time machine but it won't work at all on my windows laptop which I needed most. I might as well have bought backup disk for PC only. It's cheaper and works. This thing is more than useless.
  18. I fiddled around with the Seagate Backup Plus Slim for ages before I found the answer to my problem, here, from Christina Johnston.  I want to save files to the external Hard Drive from my iMac but I couldn't figure it out.  Then I read "I had this problem and was able to solve it. Open Disk Utility and then select the drive, select Erase tab, and then select Mac OS Extended Journaled. Then erase. After that I could use it like a normal hard drive." from Christina Johnston, here, in these comments.  Phew! All's good now.
  19. I bought this (already regretting it though) for my brand new macbook pro retina. I installed it and registered and then it just kept asking me to register again and again and, you guessed it, again. I CAN DO NADA with this thing. I can't drag files. I can't save anything to it. I have no idea what is going on, what is this crap? Also, when I check storage on my macbook there is some pink taking up a lot of storage, what is that about?? Help me, I am technologically challenged.
