Cloudready by Neverware claims to take your everyday laptop / desktop and turn it into a full fledged Chromebook. In today's installment of Software Sunday we are going to see how easy it is to install Cloudready and what it has to offer as a lightweight yet functional Chromium based OS. Getting started was fairly simple. The installation instructions on the Cloudready website were straightforward and easy to follow. The "Home Use" version is absolutely free and offers 32-bit and 64-bit images. Just download which ever image suites you, add the Chromebook recovery utility to chrome and run it, select the Cloudready zip, and finally select the destination drive to install it to (flash drive 8GB or greater is recommended). The installation does take a little while but once it has completed plug the installation media into the PC and select to boot from it in your BIOS. After following these steps your PC should now boot into the Cloudready live environment. From here you can now install Cloudready to your HDD, it has options to perform a dual boot installation (needs UEFI) or a singular install where it wipes everything on the HDD. I originally intended to run Cloud ready on my Dell Latitude 2120 since it is older and I wanted to see how Cloudready would run on older hardware. I did get to play around with the live image for a little on that system, it was very snappy and overall I was impressed with the performance. Though, unfortunately the HDD in that system was dead and I could not perform a full install. Instead I performed a full install on my Dell Inspiron 15 (3521). The OS performed flawlessly on my Inspiron 15. All of my hardware was immediately recognized (a pleasant surprise) and the overall system performance was impressive. Boot time was under 15 seconds and all applications opened almost instantly. I was even able to install a few android apps which made the offline experience much more tolerable. I was pleased by the performance and ease of use of Cloudready. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a simple Chromebook experience to add to their existing hardware. 1. You talk too much. You must be a chic.
  2. did you try on a p4? :)
  3. can you still download things like Words or Steam?
  4. I noticed you said you had a problem turning off the backup program. I would ask why don't you look into building your own home server then back up all the files from the computer to there. There are a lot of open source NAS products out there like   EasyNAS, FreeNAS, NAS4Free plus a program called Own Cloud so you can do all the backups you your own home server. Ok this may be to complex for the person who is into computers or more for geeks but well worth a look at. I would love to see you do a series of videos on utube if this could be done.
  5. elementary OS is very light if you put that on your moms pc
  6. i wanted to install it on my primary laptop however i got dual boot already, i play around like making it triple boot no luck any suggestions =D
  7. can you right click on that os like windows ??? or its the picture only and nothing else ?? ohh.. and why do you have only 16 gb hard disk ?? i mean we are in 2016 :) do an upgrade on that computer in a new video :) have a good day
  8. Did you end up using Cloudready with your Mother? If so, how did she like it? I was planning to use Cub Linux on a system I build a few years ago, but with Cub now discontinued and dead in the water, I'm reexamining my other options. I know that the underlining Ubuntu would still be supported for the next few years, but it still makes me nervous
  9. i think these guys coppied Cub linux because it is the same and is older
  10. does it can run heavy size game of 1-2 gb smoothly
  11. Does this work with a laptop with old nvidia graphics?
  12. I just want to say thanks for the video. After watching your video I managed to install CloudReady on a HP Stream Notebook and the speed I am getting from using the device is much more preferable than when I had windows installed.
I am getting a couple of downfalls. One is that some of the plugins make the device crash. I can't seem to install my wireless printer and perhaps most disappointing it is not compatible with my chromecast device.
  13. can this os run apk files then
  14. I really liked your laptop's wallpaper, can you provide a link for it?
  15. Can i do it from an SD card?
  16. I think you had cut the video from cloud ready logo to wizard. Well I'm stuck in whitescreen and I am here just to figure out how ling it should take and had cut the video damb
  17. You're yelling. You're acting unnatural. Your neck vein pops (it literally pops).

    SOLUTION:

Calm down, you're not commentating, you're presenting, it's a different voice for such.
You're obvious new to this, but hey, somebody got to tell you, right? So better it's me.
  18. i have a dell chromebook. my school gave it
  19. what wallpaper is that?
  20. Test it on iball excellence comp book
