TECH TALK: HOW TO INSTALL CYANOGENMOD 7.1 ANDROID 2.3.7 ON HP TOUCHPAD (WINDOWS)

DISCLAIMER: I am not to be held responsible for any loss of data as a result of the malfunctioning of your HP TouchPad in the following of this guide. If you have issues with the command not recognizing the file, drag the novacom.exe file into the folder HP webOS where you installed the ACMEInstaller Before you start, you will need a few files which you should download first first: SDK/PDK for Windows/Mac/Linux: http://tinyurl.com/6jfatgj ACMEInstaller, CyanogenMod 7.1 and ClockworkMod Recovery, and Moboot: http://db.tt/kumKig9s Step 1: Install HP webOS SDK/PDK for your operating system after downloading it from the first link. Extract the contents of ACMEInstaller.zip and the uImage.ClockworkMod from the update-cwm_tenderloin-1012.zip to the folder where you have installed HP webOS SDK/PDK. Should be something like C:\Program Files\HP webOS Step 2: Connect your HP TouchPad to your computer through the USB cable. You will see a USB Drive notification, tap it and mount your tablet as a USB storage device. Step 3: Create a folder named cminstall on your HP TouchPad from your computer and transfer the update-cm-7.1.0-tenderloin-a1-fullogbugs.zip, update-cwm_tenderloin-1012.zip, moboot_0.3.3.zip files to it. Step 4: Restart your HP TouchPad from Settings / Device Info / Restart. Your screen will now go dark. At this point, you must hold Volume Up until you see a USB symbol. Your computer should now be able to recognize your TouchPad (this may take some time, so be patient!). Step 5: Open up a terminal application. Use it to navigate to HP webOS folder with the required commands (which will be different for Windows/Mac/Linux). Step 6: Enter the command given in the video after navigating to HP webOS folder: If you followed the steps correctly, CyanogenMod 7.1 Alpha 1 based on Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread will now be installed on your HP TouchPad.   4. Everything works until I go to ACMEInstaller part. It says unable to find device. I don't know what to do now. Everything seems to be locked up on tablet. Please help.

  12. During Step 6 (using Vista) my laptop crashed. After a re-starting the computer and re-booting the Touchpad (holding power button and the inset button on the screen for about 10 secs) Step 6 then worked perfectly. Excellent tutorial, thank you very much!
