Yes, with this simple trick, you can still print with empty cartridge. I've got probably 100 pages printed after Brother printer has declared an ink cartridge was EMPTY! Also with this trick, you will never need to buy color ink if you only print in back and white.   1. That's bloody incredible. So the reason the printer consistently fails on yellow cartridges is that it can't see the yellow!
  2. This is brilliant IT WORKS!!! And I used White tape, buy the way if you turn the cartridge upside down yo'l see that it has still got some ink in it... so its safe to use with black and white!!! Thank you!!!

  5. Thank you so much!! I had this same problem. All I wanted to do was print in black and white but because I had no color ink it still wouldn't let me print. This saved me a lot of time and energy!

  7. What I do is take out the ink cartridge wait five seconds put it back in and when I asked if you changed that color or black push yes. Do this for all colors and it will reset the levels. I just tried printing after a test and a cleaning and it still would not hardly print anything faint but once I took out each cartridge and reset the levels it printed very dark and perfect.
  8. James you are a blessing from GOD by helping people with this type of printer get the most out of their ink cartridge. I followed your instructions and went downstairs and got some electrical tape, cut a piece down the middle and covered the window with black and inserted every last one of them back in the printer. At 1st it showed all ink cartridges were out then after inserting them with the electrical tape it shows all my ink cartridges full. Many you did an EXCELLANT JOB showing us this little trick
  9. AWESOME TIP!!! Totally worked, my cartridges were full o ink an kept being undetected, it was driving us mad.
    Now I'd appreciate a tut on how to flush hardened ink, my yellow ink tank is full but keeps printing blotched incomplete test patters, even after countless cleaning cycles
  10. Thank you...I was almost ready to throw this printer out the window because it goes through frigging color ink like crazy! I only print in B&W when I do print, which is rare, maybe a couple of pages a month.
  11. My next printer will be a Brother if they still use these types of sensors. I hate Epson!
  12. Just use settings to print black and white only. No need to do this at all!!!!
