Check out: http://www.facebook.com/Videoorchard Ubuntu Tweak is an application to config Ubuntu easier for everyone.It provides many useful desktop and system options that the default desktop environment doesn't provide.At present, It is only designed for GNOME Desktop,and often follows the newest Ubuntu distribution.Ubuntu Tweak is a tool that lets you change hidden Ubuntu settings, for example: hide or change the splash screen, show or hide the Computer, Home, Trash, and Network icons, change Metacity, Nautilus, power management, and security settings, etc. Steps to follow to use ubuntu tweak is given below: 1. Visit http://www.ubuntu tweak.com 2. Then open it with the Ubuntu software centre and click install. 3. If you run into a dependency problem suggesting that you need to have (python =2.7), then you need to execute 3 commands which is present in http://wiki.smithwebapps.net/UbuntuTweakDependencyIsNotSatisfiablePython ,and then run the program. Ubuntu tweak provides you with lots of cool features, here are few which is explained briefly: * [Backup data in ubuntu] Desktop Recovery feature will provide you with 3 major categories: 1) Desktop 2) Application 3) System Now to backup the data, click on the dekstop and choose Backup, and save it with sum specific name. Do the same for the rest that is application and system with the same backup name. To recover the data, click on the desktop and choose recover,with the same backup name you entered and do the same for the rest. * [Other cool features] a) Application centre: contains lists of applications to be installed in Ubuntu.Browser will have differnt types of browser applications and Dekstop will have different types desktop applications and so on. b)Package cleaner: removes all the unwanted files from your operating system. c) Source Editor: is contains the place(PPA's) were all the software gets updated Time to time, now to delete certain softwares first unlock it, then choose the file and delete it. d)Update Manager: helps you to see all the packages which can be upgraded g)Login settings:if you need a different background in the login interface u need to first unlock it and then select one of the background which you desire,you can even change the logo and also disable the sound which plays at the login. h) Windows Manager Settings in this you can customize the buttons max,min,close in different order as your wish.There are many other settings i.e title bar mouse wheel up action will hide your interface.
