  1. This product is garbage - DO NOT BUY! I have a 3TB version on a macbook pro via firewire. I am currently awaiting my 2nd replacement drive in two years - so far, I have kept the original one I purchased as it has worked better than the replacement they sent me - yes, I sent back the (re-certified) replacement because it is less functional than the one I wanted to replace! What happens is they go to sleep, self eject and then freeze up your mac (finder - relaunch solves nothing). You will then have no option but to hard boot the computer. This will happen more and more frequently as time goes on. Customer service has no idea what they are talking about and do not seem to be even aware of this well documented problem.

  3. Would you be able to take a picture of what the power supply looks like? I lost mine. Also, do you know if this drive only turns on when plugged into a computer?
  4. I bought the 1T with thunderbolt adapter. I probably got a defective unit because in my test with thunderbolt compared with firewire, the Seagate is terrible. Over a minute for a 935 MB file vs my firewire 19 sec. Have a look at my test in real time. What could be the problem? Thank you!
  5. hey dude i purchased that 2tb but mine is a usb3.0 recently. i have a previous seagate 1tb hard drive the silver one that goes into idle mode which is really a great feature for me and i generally have it on all the time.... ive had it for almost 4yrs and its fine still but just full lol ....will this new one do the same? even though you recommend to turn it off
  6. @tonglil this is an matte finish isn't it? i like it unlike the standard windows ones they are glossy black.
  7. No need to unplug it at night just drag it into the garbage and this will tun it off.
