Unopenable Corrupt Word DOCX Document Opens With Freeware

In this video, a Word 2007 Office Open format docx file will not open in Word 2007. Word cannot even salvage the text. However a piece of freeware Corrupt office2txt does open and salvage the text as demonstrated. You can download Corrupt office2txt here: http://sourceforge.net/users/socrtwo22. If you need doc recovery try the freeware: http://www.repairmyword.com/. Not my software... The freeware also recovers corrupt xlsx and pptx and even corrupt Open Office files. With Open Office Files you can try to recover the formatting as well.

  1. You need to rename corrupted .doc file to .zip extension, then right-click on it and open it with help of another app - WordPad.
    It works for me!
  2. What the heck, the whole point of this software is to fix corrupt docs and it tells me it cant do anything because the file i selected appears to be corrupt

  5. I am very inconsiderate when working with documents.Often t I did not save the documents, because I just forget. Before I had to create a new documents. Method in the video is interesting too, one day I will try.

Do you know how to fix a computer that brings every thing up in notepad even if its not a text document i pull up google chrome or anything on my computer and it takes me to notepad and shows the coding this is very annoying and i need my computer back PLEASE HELP!   13. It is what's known as a false positive. It is not really a virus. During installation the program offers you several pieces of "Adware" which you can either authorize to be installed or decline. Overzealous security companies with too much time on their hands categorize this kind of program as objectionable, but it is not a virus they just pool adware together in the same pot with viruses and trojans. It's an overreach. Us freeware authors often time cannot support our programs otherwise!

  15. FFFFFFFFAIL good program (when it works), but my DOCX is truly buggered.
  16. Try right clicking on the shortcut for the program and choosing to run it as an Administrator. Also try repairing the file's zip structure with infozip Zip.exe. You can find that program for free at sourceforge. From the command line repair the Word file's zip structure with a line like this: zip.exe -FF mydoc.docx --out mydoc_reprd.docx. Then run it through my program again even in admin mode.

  18. I spoke too fast, this service will recover corrupt RTF files for $39. Do a search for Recoveronix. They have software called Word Recovery which recovers RTF files for $99. Also they have a service which will recover single RTF files for $39.
  19. There aren't really any programs for recovering corrupt rtf files I know of except Word. Choose "*.*, Extract text from any file" from the drop down list of file types to open. You might also try te freeware program called BinText to extract/recover the text.
  20. um, I have a really serious problem :( My document is in rtf file and isn't gunna work on this - is there any way of recovering this? It wont let me open the file to convert it to doc format and I've tried online converters but because it's corrupt (i think) it wont let me do it :'(
