Buy it on Amazon - http://lon.tv/8hkos (affiliate link) The WD My Passport Air USB 3.0 external hard drive for Mac offers great performance in a sturdy and compact design. It can write data to the disk at approximately 110 megabytes per second on my Macbook Pro Retina and read at about the same rate. It's suitable at that data rate for video editing and other high bandwidth tasks. The drive also offers a password feature to prevent access on unauthorized computers. If it's plugged into an unauthorized computer a virtual CD-ROM drive will appear with software to unlock the drive. If the password is lost so is access to the drive so choose carefully! In short, this is a great drive at a reasonable price. 1. THANK YOU, YOU ARE THE BEST! I've have so much important documents on WD passport and i recently sold my macbook, i've been trying to accessed my WD for 3 month now. I've watched over 40 videos and call WD -unsuccessful! Your video was the only helpful one! Thank you!
  2. We don't know for sure if it has a backdoor since how the encryption works is not "open source" but I'm pretty sure with just a warrant the NSA even your local PD can for WD to get your files if they wanna.
  3. I know WD makes two separate My Passports. My Passport Mac and My Passport Air. I have a MacBook Air, can I still use the My Passport Mac? Is there a significant difference? or is it safer in the long run to go with air.
  4. Интересное видео! Мы тоже снимаем по разработке различных планов безопасности и ГО . Будем рады, если вы зайдете на наш канал
  5. I have the Western Digital My PassPort ultra 2tb for my mac which works perfectly fine and i dont really see a difference in the 2 devices other than benchmarks. The encryption on all western digital devices if you forget the password can be a complete pain in the ass but luckily if you reformat the drive it will allow you to re-register a new password - im guessing this one wont allow that??. Also any progress on the hp envy split? ;D
  6. How does compare to other drives in its price range?
  7. No Linux support. Boo!
  8. Interesting, with the WD Passport Slim (for Windows) there is an option to mark a user or computer as "yours" so you won't be prompt for the password when it's set.
  9. Shame Mac doesnt come to the party and support NTFS correctly without 3rd party addon tools or support EXT2/EXT3
  10. Why not buy a standard PC Harddrive and format it to FAT32/exFAT or HFS/HFS?
  11. Out of interest why do you have to buy a MAC edition of a HDD ?
  12. Any idea what level of encryption it is running? AES 128, 256, other?

    Thanks.
