This is the package that I got from amazon. Links to buy this product are given in the description below. So lets unbox it. Now as you can see it is a 2 TB external hard disk. It comes with a 3 year limited warranty. As mentioned here you will get a portable hard disk, USB cable, Backup and security software and a Quick install guide. It comes with with a backup software which lets you automatically backup your data, WD Security software which offers 256-bit hardware encryption. It is compatible with both windows and mac. Now let's open up the box contents. You will get the external hard disk, quick start guide, and usb cable. Length of usb cable is ok in my opinion. At the front it is written My Passport Ultra with WD Logo, at the top you get the port for data transfer, at the back, there is some information written along with the four rubber pads. Its size is very compact as you can see. If I compare it with WD Elements 1 TB Hard Disk, you can see it is of the same size but little bit thicker due to its more storage capacity. Even If you compare it with seagate 1 TB hard disk, you can see it is very compact in its comparison. It is made up of plastic with solid build quality but that does not mean you drop it because that might result in hard disk failure which is the case with any mechanical hard disk. Now let us see how it performs and also we take a look at all its features. Now as you can see that our Hard Disk is detected as My Passport. We got 1.81 TB of storage. If we go into the properties as you can see used space is 421 Mega Bytes and free space is 1.81 TB and file system is NTFS so if you want to use it in mac you have to reformat it in FAT32 file system. Now let's see what we have got. As you can see we have got a bunch of softwares for mac and windows. For windows we have got WD Backup, WD Quick View, WD Driver Utilities, WD Security and WD SES Driver. Now let's install all these softwares. Now let's open WD Drive Utilities. Straight away it asks for you to update so let me update all the softwares and i will get back to you in a sec..... So now that I am finished updating let's take a quick look at all the softwares one by one. First up is WD Quick View. It basically shows you the information about temperature, about security whether your hard disk is locked or not and percentage of used space. Next up is WD Security. By using this you can secure your drive to keep others from accessing your files by using a password. Let us choose a password to demonstrate that. Also keep in mind that if you forget your password than there is no other way to unlock it. So make sure you write down your password somewhere in case you forget it otherwise you have to reformat your disk or else you have to format it to remove password which will also erase your data. You can also select auto unlock for your computer so that you need not to type password every time you plug your hard disk into your computer. Obviously, you can also remove your password if you want to. Now let's eject and then again connect our hard disk to see how this security feature works. Now as you can see it is not showing our hard disk directly. Now if you double click on that it will ask for the password. Enter your password and hit Unlock drive and now our hard disk is unlocked. Next up is WD Backup which basically allows you to scheduled a back up plan for backing up your data from the PC to the Hard disk or to your drop box. Benchmarks are also quite good for this. We have got the same read and write speed of approximately 119.6 MB/sec and that is actually quite good for an external hard disk. So if you are looking for an compact size and light weight external hard disk since it weighs only 0.23kg then go for it. It comes in different colours namely Black, Blue, White and Berry and in two storage size 1TB and 2TB. Cons are that its body is entirely made of plasic and surface is prone to scratches and also there is no password recovery feature.
