I was on the hunt for an affordable storage solution and I came across Western Digital's MyCloud. Is it the best bang for buck home NAS box, backup device and cloud solution on the market? As I found out, WD's MyCloud provides some solid features which are extremely easy to use. Followed by a small under-stated design and performance which is up to scratch. Definitely recommended. Link to access WD's MyCloud from home: http://wdmycloud Note that the address will change if you change the name for MyCloud. hey techno kiwi. ca i put ip wireless security cameras on it n record it?? thanks

This device sucks! I have it for many months now. And it constantly hangs. I have to always reset it to make it work. Plus the apps are pathetic! The thumbnails are so small and sometimes don't even appear. After I upload photos and videos (when I can) to the device, I have to download to my PC (again takes forever cos it keeps hanging) so that I can see which files have been successfully stored before I delete the files from my phone to clear space for new photos or videos.

Can you wirelessly access the hard drive as well as the cloud?
-
How much power (Wattage) it takes ?
-
WHY!?!?!?!

Great video + thorough review => instant subscription ! Thanks

Well, this will use a lot of my bandwidth right? You have mentioned that you can access the files anywhere in the world. So that means, they are uploaded to the internet? Or I am wrong and they are just backed up into the internal hard drive in WD and uploaded through Wifi network?

Hi, im thinking about buying this but I need to know one thing, and I would appreciate if you could test this with the device, I will use this NAS to store my movies and photos, now the movies are not critical, and I would like to add to the NAS an USB-2.5. Drive and copy only the folders with the photos to the external drive, I know that there is a feature called the SafePoint but Im not sure there is a posibility to choose if you want to make a full backup of the drive or only some part, Thank you Martin

what if it broke down? can i have the data back?

@Techno Kiwi , Hi .. I'v Question . Lets say am Trying to Access A 1 GB File From A Remote System, Approximately How Much Time It Takes To Download, On A Decent Speed Internet ??
Thank You In Advance .. Cheers -
Thank you for a great video. Are time machine backups restricted to the onboard drive or can time machine use the external hard drive attached to the My Cloud usb port for backups?

That intro music is very annoying.
-
Is it compatible with Linux?
-
hi.... can two of these devices (single bay) be connected together for mirroring ?
-
I have a WD cloud and DONT GET IT! The cloud part stopped working and no matter how many times I call them it doesn't work. I've reset it 5 times and tell them I did but their advice s to try a 6th time. DO NOT GET IT. I don't know about the seagate one but I might have to try it out because I'm returning the WD My Cloud.

So how do you copy data to the device?

What are the transfer speeds over a gigabit router over wifi when the transfer is done locally over home network?

having issue uploading my movies to download my movies Need Help

These are complete pieces of shit. I own one and it literally does NOTHING well. Absolutely nothing. Slow transfer speeds, excruciatingly slow software, disconnects randomly, etc.

This product is kind of confusing me, are the files being stored onto the actual device or onto a cloud somewhere?
