  5. Saifee Mir, Thanks for these. I downloaded win8 x64 repair iso and burned to dvd and wrote to bootable usb. I set bios for cms boot mode and compatible sata and boot order ood first.

    It loads up the repair OS / Software fine, UI implies this is loading fine, then blank screen for 3 minutes then machine turns off. Took DVD out, inserted USB, set boot order to usb first, started up, same successful loading of repair software then same blank screen and same power off.

    How confident can I be that this failure is NOT anything to do with the recovery media. Assuming it's not the recovery media then what is likely cause? I am thinking memory? (when it gets to loading more) but would have expected BSOD, power, but have exchanged cable.

    Any thoughts?

    Saifee Ok downloaded everything and burned it onto a disk rebooted and nothing happened don't know if I have to adjust my boot settings or what, also none of the files in the zip files are identified as ISO's

  10. hey i downloaded the windows 8 one and wrote the ISO image onto a CD and when i run it on the broken computer, it starts to load the file and then it shows blue bars at the top of the screen but then it shuts the computer off, did i download it wrong or do something wrong?
