Windows Update Cannot Currently Check For Updates, Because The Service Is Not Running. Fix.

Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. Caused by large drive upgrade or driver issue. This issue happened to me after I upgraded my drive from a 300GB to a 1TB Toshiba drive. Note I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit version on an HP laptop. Here is the link for the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver (IRST) from HP: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02219204&cc=nl&lc=en&dlc=en&product. If that does not work try this: IRST for Desktop Boards STOR_Win7_8_11.7.0.1013_PV.exe , dated 12/06/2012 ver 11.7.0.1013 Make sure you click on (Which file should I download) before you download the file. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=22272 Here is the Intel support site for this technology: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/highlights/sftwr-prod/imsm Please pick the correct driver for your operating system Windows 7, 8 etc. and the correct architecture 32 bit or 64 bit. If you don't know which you have, Intel has a how to on that on this same page too. As soon as I heard your caveat, I knew I was on the right track. Downloaded old IRST (without updates it could not install latest version 15) Now, finally, I have the first 10 important updates.   15. thank you for these videos :) but i couldnt my problem with any of your videos. i dont see windows update in Services. I think i remember deleting some files bit 64 or 84 :p i dont clearly remember the name. Aaaand i stuck with this COULDNT CHECK for uodates issue. What should i do now?
  16. wow this actually worked! I thought my college free windows key expired and I lived with that idea for over 2 years now. The Intel driver was the problem all along. I just uninstalled intel matrix storage driver and restarted the pc. Boom, now it's looking for updates. Thank you very much, this is a lifesaver (i have problems with drivers that i couldn't get from windows because the update didn't want to start).
