PLEASE WATCH THIS ON A PC/MAC TO VIEW THE ONSCREEN NOTES IF ITS NOT WORKING. I just realized that the annotations aren't showing on Mobile Devices :-) ! IF THIS STILL DOESN'T WORK GO TO THE VERY BOTTOM OF THIS DESCRIPTION AND FOLLOW THOSE COMPLETE REINSTALL DIRECTIONS. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (The reason I don't speak in this video is so that non english speakers can follow too, I tried to make it as "simple" as possible) *Note: This works for Windows 10 and the new update for iTunes that's botching up the drivers again (_9/27/2015_)* * Feel free to share, this works for all except "Unknown USB Device" issue! * * ALSO read the other tips and tricks at the BOTTOM if it doesn't work for you * **** PLEASE FOLLOW THE EXACT PATH (NOTE THE COMMON FILES FOLDER! : C:\Program Files (or Program Files (x86)\ COMMON FILES \ APPLE\ Mobile Device Support \ Drivers What that path looks like: http://imgur.com/1p1SNbg 1 minute fix the issue of your iPhone, iPod and iPad devices not being seen in iTunes. This reared its ugly head when we upgraded to iTunes 11.1.4.62 on our Windows 8.1 machines. This works on Windows 10 too There are a few other fixes out there including using the "Devices and Printers" control panel but that blocks driver updates and doesn't work for many people. Here's how you fix it: - The first thing you should do is to go to the metro or tile interface and start typing "Device Manager". This brings us the interface. - We found the apple device after much looking, and found it in the Portable device section. Yours might be different. Look for the Apple Device in the listing. - The next step is to RIGHT CLICK the "Apple iPhone or iPod or iPad" line and select "update driver software" and "Browse my computer for Driver software". Then Browse to C: Program Files (or Program Files (x86) | Common files | apple | Mobile Device Support| Drivers - Hit "OK", then "Next" - You should see that it's successfully updated your driver software. Goto iTunes and plug in your iDevice. Bam! Works. ;-) WHAT THIS DOES: This adds the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver that didn't exist or failed to install before. We think this happens when you're on Windows 8/10 and update iTunes from a user that's not an Admin. EDITS: - It looks like this may not work with iPod Shuffles or older iPods - SOME people have the Apple folder somewhere else. To find it do a "Find" on your C: drive - ALSO if you have Windows 7 64bit. You may have TWO Program Files folders one with a (x86) in it. The Common Files folder is in the other one *************LAST RESORT TRICK******** THE TOTAL APPLE SOFTWARE REINSTALL TRICK from Lars Hindsley - Uninstall EVERY APPLE product - Uninstall iTunes, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour (optional) Quicktime (optional), Apple Application Support (32-bit), and Apple Application Support (64-bit), - REBOOT - Download new iTunes - Reinstall iTunes*
